Undocumented and Uninsured is the first study about and by immigrant youth on health care access. Researchers surveyed 550 immigrant youth throughout California–including undocumented youth and youth recently granted Deferred Action status. Part 1 & 2 of the report describes the health impacts on the remaining uninsured immigrant youth and their families who were specifically excluded from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that went into effect on January 1, 2014. Parts 3, 4 and 5 of the report will be released later this year.

The Affordable Care Act and California Immigrants: Implementing Policies and Practices for the Remaining Uninsured (2013)
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) does not cover undocumented immigrants. This research report, a result of analysis conducted by undocumented immigrant youth and their allies, outlines current health care policies and programs and examines the obstacles undocumented immigrant youth and families face when attempting to access these services. The report also offers innovative legislative, policy, and program recommendations aimed at expanding health care opportunities for all, including undocumented immigrants.
Undocumented and Unafraid: Tam Tran, Cinthya Felix, and the Immigrant Youth Movement (2012)
Part I of the book offers a unique view into the short but meaningful lives of two leaders of the immigrant youth movement, UCLA graduates Tam Tran and Cinthya Felix, who were pursuing advanced degrees at Ivy League universities at the time of their tragic deaths in 2010. Part II of the book highlights the voices of those within the immigrant youth movement. Many versions of the federal DREAM Act have been proposed and debated since its introduction in 2001. In 2010, the bill passed the House but was five votes short of passing in the Senate. The book captures the voices of those within the immigrant movement. These reflections express the courage, passion, and strength of the immigrant youth leaders who continue to fight for immigrant rights.
Underground Undergrads: UCLA Undocumented Immigrant Students Speak Out (2008)
This student publication features the growing immigrant youth movement around access to higher education and immigrant integration. Written by the students themselves, eight moving stories of undocumented immigrant youth from UCLA provide the focal point of Underground Undergrads. Underground Undergrads also serves as an educational and research tool by providing a summary of the history of legislation impacting undocumented students in higher education as well as a resource guide of organizations that advocate for student rights.
