MISSION

The 2017 Dream Summer Alumni Network Council will connect and channel the collective power of Dream Summer alumni across the country. Through leadership and professional development efforts by and for alumni, the council will:

1. Provide support as advisers given area(s) of expertise to advance personal, professional, and educational goals of alumni
2. Uplift, initiate, and help lead national efforts to address issues impacting our immigrant communities
3. Provide opportunities for alumni engagement
4. Build friendships and partnerships with incoming Dream Summer fellows
5. Promote Dream Summer nationally

The council will be grounded on the core values of inclusivity, intersectionality, empowerment, justice, and community.

VISION

The Dream Summer Alumni Network Council will serve as a support system where alumni foster friendships and partnerships; lead professional and leadership development opportunities for one another; and continue build collective power to address issues impacting our communities.

STRUCTURE

The Dream Summer Alumni Network Council will be composed of 5 Dream Summer alumni across the country engaged in social justice work, such as immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, health justice, workers’ rights, and the overall empowerment of our immigrant communities. The council will be overseen by the Dream Summer Manager, a staff member at the Dream Resource Center.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Availability to participate in Los Angeles opening retreat of Dream Summer 2017 (Council dates: June 21, 22, 23)
2. Keep availability open for a congratulatory and welcome Council call on May 20 or 21, 2017.
3. Serve a year-long term, rotating with each Dream Summer class
4. Participate in monthly conference calls and/or webinars with Council
5. Plan and execute webinars for fellows and alumni
6. Participate in opening retreat of Dream Summer 2017
7. Serve as advisers to fellows
