Emily Jo Wharry is a Communications Specialist at the UCLA Labor Center and Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE). She is passionate about using collaborative storytelling and dynamic multimedia to amplify educational, equitable causes. Her professional background spans multiple nonprofits and international corporations. Prior to joining the communications field, she was a Los Angeles-based journalist. She graduated cum laude from Occidental College with a B.A. in politics and history, where she received the Hardy Prize for best senior history thesis, the Jaquette Prize for politics department seniors with the greatest community impact, and the Dean’s Award for Equity, Excellence, Community, and Service.
