Mario De Leon is the Dream Resource Center’s Dream Summer Project Coordinator. Mario was born in Guatemala and has lived in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles since the age of 9. Mario attended UCLA between 2007 and 2012 as an undocumented student, before the CA Dream Act or DACA were enacted, and was a student activist on campus and in his community. Mario served as the Co-Chair of IDEAS, the student advocacy and support group for undocumented students at UCLA Mario helped launch the first Freedom School for immigrant youth in Los Angeles and contributed to the first Spanish-language comprehensive resource guide for Central American immigrants as part of the UCLA Labor Center’s Community Scholars. Mario holds a BA from UCLA in International Development Studies and Minor in Labor and Workplace Studies.
