UCLA Labor Center to Release First National Study
on Labor Conditions in Nail Salon Industry

On Tuesday, November 27th, the UCLA Labor Center, in partnership with the California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative, will release a new report, Nail Files: A Study of Nail Salon Workers and Industry in the United States. While previous studies presented mostly regional assessments of health and safety conditions in salons, this report will be the first to examine the nail salon industry nationally through a labor lens, with a focus on key labor issues, trends, and areas of oversight. The report is based on existing literature, policy reports, worker stories, and government and industry sources.
