Wednesday, December 6: Community Groups Host Pop-up Phone Bank to Call on Lawmakers to Pass the Bipartisan Dream Act Before Year-End
LOS ANGELES, CA — The DREAM Act National Day of Action, is this Wednesday, December 6, and community members across the country are calling on members of Congress to pass legislation to protect immigrant youth before the end of the year. The Dream Resource Center (DRC) in partnership with FWD.us, Undocumedia, the UCLA Undocumented Alumni Association, UndocuTravelers, the Undocumented Student Program, and Dreams Alliance, to host POP-UP DREAM ACT Phone Bank: National Day of Action. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 6, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM PST at the UCLA Labor Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Participants will be calling key members of Congress to urge them to support the bipartisan Dream Act before Congress heads home for the holidays. The phone banking event comes just days before a critical vote on a spending bill that could be used to fund the deportations of immigrant youth who continue to lose protections every single day, unless Congress first passes legislation to permanently protect them.
