About UAW Labor Summer 2023
Founded in 2022 and hosted by the UCLA Dream Resource Center, the Labor Summer Fellowship is an annual program that brings together young leaders and community organizations who share a vision for worker justice and labor rights. Student participants are matched with a host organization for an 8-week, full-time fellowship to complete projects that strengthen the intersection between the organization’s social justice mission and labor issues.
This summer, in partnership with UAW 2865 and the UC Berkeley and UC Merced Labor Centers, Labor Summer will be offering a special fellowship program for active members of UAW 2865 devoted to documenting their historic campaign that culminated in the strike this fall. Graduate student fellows from each of the 10 UC campuses will collect archival materials, oral histories, and digital artifacts towards creating educational materials to share with other graduate student workers as they organize for their next campaign.
